Doctoral Research Framework
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam University offers Ph.D. research programmes across Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Management, Sciences, Computer Applications, and Humanities under certified research supervisors recognized as per UGC norms.
1. Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Admission
Master's Degree Qualification
Candidates holding a 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after a 4-year Bachelor’s degree OR a 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree after a 3-year Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent CGPA grade) from a UGC-recognized university.
Direct Entry for 4-Year Bachelor Degree Holders
Candidates seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree must possess a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.
A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%, and 75% to 70%) is allowed for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), Differently-Abled, and EWS applicants as per UGC guidelines.
2. Ph.D. Selection & Admission Stages
Application Submission
Submit Ph.D. online application form along with proposed research area, PG marksheets, and prescribed registration fee.
Entrance Test (DET)
University conducts a 2-hour objective entrance examination of 200 marks (UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / GATE qualified candidates may be exempted as per norms).
Research DRC Interview
Presentation of research proposal and personal interview before the Departmental Research Committee (DRC).
Supervisor Allocation
Final merit list declaration, research supervisor allotment based on specialization, and course work enrollment.
